THE INSTITUTE

Entrepreneurship and Management Development Institute is a vital component of the institutional infrastructure needed for broad-basing entrepreneurship, upgrading management and technical skills for accelerating industrial growth in the State.

It is not the lack of resources but the lack of entrepreneurial abilities and efforts that prevents development initiative and expected utilization /value addition of resources. Entrepreneur is expected to play vital role in the process of development by introducing innovations and demonstrating leadership qualities in the dynamic situation. In this context, a long-term strategy is planned for ensuring supply of right kind of entrepreneurs in the economy to sustain the development tempo. Educating and training people for developing entrepreneurial capabilities through positive interventions is the core strategy of Entrepreneurship and Management Development Institute.

GOVERNING BODY

Entrepreneurship and Management Development Institute Rajasthan (EMI) has been set-up by the Government of Rajasthan and Government of India in association with National and State level Financial Institution. Chief Secretary to Government of Rajasthan as Chairman; principal Secretary Industries as Vice- Chairman and Commissioner Industries as it’s Director are providing purposeful directions to its functions and activities.

ROLE

EMI acts as a facilitator and a resource institution to motivate, guide and help prospective and existing entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurial endeavors /efforts through positive training interventions.

OBJECTIVES

To create awareness about entrepreneurship among local people and motivate them for setting up of rural, tiny small or medium scale industrial, commercial or service ventures.
To identify and select potential entrepreneurs from among various groups such as educated unemployed, low income and under privileged groups, women, science and technology graduates and others.
Influencing the environment in the State to facilitate entrepreneurship development and growth.
To create a cadre of competent trained trainer–motivators for implementing entrepreneurship development activities throughout the State.
To organize training programme for existing entrepreneurs on survival, growth, expansion/ diversification, export promotion and new technologies with a view to improve the health of the existing SME sector and to reduce industrial sickness.
To keep abreast of the latest information and knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship development by conducting , sponsoring research studies in area of industrial environment, industrial policies and also performance improvement and growth of existing industries.
To develop an industrial database centre with a view to enabling entrepreneurs in the State to select their product and acquire market, technological and product process information for the projects feasible in the State.
To maintain and continuously update a library and documentation centre.
To orient support-system officers including those from financial institutions about entrepreneurship development and establish linkage with them to ensure needed support to train potential entrepreneurs.
To provide consultancy services independently or in association with any expert, agency or institution.
To develop and publish training material related to entrepreneurship development.
To conduct training programmes, seminars, workshops, conferences etc. for any institution or groups of individuals, directly or indirectly associated with entrepreneurship promotion and development as well as policies.
To undertake research and evaluation work towards sensitizing and influencing the environment in the State to facilitate entrepreneurship development and growth.
